There are ten or more houses in the village owned by non-Greek, mostly British, families and a friendly (but entirely optional) ex-pat community which meets regularly for drinks or dinners. There are many lovely walks along ridge paths with stunning views of countryside and mountains, with the sea never far away. Nearby Spili is a lively market town with a good health centre, a swimming pool, three supermarkets and a range of tavernas and bars. It is famous for its hand-made lacework, thyme honey and for the lion’s head fountains that grace its leafy square and through which pours fresh spring water from the mountains above.
