Kerames
A few words about the village...
This is an amazingly popular village. This small village is reached by turning off at Kissou Kambos at the sign post for Kerames towards the coast. One heads over the side of Mount Asideratos and once you start the downward journey the view is simply breathtaking. It is charming in that it is almost Santorini or Paros like as the village is a maze of narrow foot paths all demarcated in white. These lanes were designed to allow a fully packed donkey to reach the houses in days gone by. If you had a fully packed donkey you would still be able to access your house, however, nowadays it is mainly pedestrian. The village does have several parking areas for leaving ones car close to ones property. Other than its charming village square with several well supported kafenions, the village because of its position enjoys particularly mild weather during the winter months. It is also close to the most beautiful south coast beaches and there are fabulous sea views from many of the houses as they nestled against the foot of the mountain and overlook the south coast and the Paximathia islands. It is believed that the village owes its name to the word Potter(Ceramics) in Greek.
