In the eastern Mediterranean you will find the island of light,
sunshine and friendly locals - Crete.
This is where one wakes up thinking
this is exactly where I want to be – no need to spend
the day wishing you were somewhere else.
Crete enjoys at least 8 months of summer – followed
by mild winters with mostly sunny days. At the end of each
day as
the setting sun colours the sky one celebrates the end of another
perfect day and the start of the evening ahead. The night skies
are bright with stars and if you have never seen the Milky Way
in all its splendour, you are assured of seeing the magic of
the night sky in Crete.
Something that sets Crete apart, from many other places is the
friendliness of the locals. Cretans are unbelievably welcoming
and generous. There is also the appealing laid back Mediterranean
way of life and the famous Cretan diet that goes with it.
Despite most peoples desire to be close
to a beach and enjoy the sea views it is the mountains that
make Crete special. The
chain of mountains across the length of the island adds to the
magnificence of the landscape. The hillsides and plains are covered
with vines, herbs and millions of olive trees, countless little
churches and monasteries. All this is surrounded by a magnificent
coastline. Unlike smaller islands, the landscape of Crete is
impressive.
